Werewolf: The Apocalypse

Spring 1940.

The previous decade has seen the blood-red storm clouds of conflict envelop much of the world. The war to end all wars did nothing of the sort.

In 1931 Japan occupied Manchuria. Then in 1937, it began an invasion of China that continues to this day, in which its military operations are conducted with bestial savagery, epitomised by the mass slaughter of the people of Nanking.

And 1936 saw the start of the Spanish civil war. What may have been a limited conflict gave Europe a brief glimpse of what was to come as the Fascist states of Germany and Italy backed the Nationalists and the Soviet Union became the prime external patron of the Republican government. That conflict ended last year and the major powers turned to their own plans for expansion.

The 1st of September saw the 'Blitzkrieg' begin and today Western Europe is quickly succumbing to the might of the Nazi war machine. The Nazis have taken western Poland. Holland and Belgium have been overrun. France is standing by to be overrun. The British Expeditionary Force is in retreat and will soon be trapped against the Channel coast.

Things are no better in eastern Europe. Stalin's Russia has annexed eastern Poland, occupied the Baltic States, part of Romania and, after some initial defeats, parts of Finland as well.

And the humans are not alone in their seeming willingness to do each other harm. Only a few short years have passed since our Fianna cousins in Australia told us of how accursed Black Spiral treachery and unthinking Garou prejudice led to the senseless destruction of the Bunyip.

Many are asking, "Has the Apocalypse truly begun?"

Here I tell of an English caern, the Sept that guards it and how two of its heroes spent the war.
