Dear Ernst,
Sorry to burden you with another travelling companion this late in the day, but
it's a favour for an old friend, Hannes Carow. You may have met him as he
infrequently comes to dinner. He took Herr Blayd (where in the world do you get
a name like his?! I can only assume that it is not the one given by his parents)
under his wing to help him overcome his criminal tendencies (he was until recently a
rather unsuccessful thief, largely because he used to brag about his exploits).
He's supposed to be a reformed character, but it's probably best to keep an eye
on him, at least for a while. Sending him to join you for the festival is a way of
testing him while he is surrounded by temptation.
Hannes assures me that he will behave himself, but I have my doubts.
Anyway, enjoy the festival. I trust you have found Lemuel in good health.
Regards,
Helmut Gotterundammerung
