Here you can find the descriptions and stats of some of the characters that
I have played in various adventures and campaigns. Only those characters who have survived
long enough to develop a personality of their own are here, as I think a character should be
more than just a collection of numbers.
Anyone familiar with the Dragonlance world will probably recognise several
of the names of my characters and those of individuals from their backgrounds. This is partly
because I am hopeless at making up names, and partly because I have enjoyed reading many of the
Dragonlance novels.
Bill Berry(Halfling, Rat Catcher)
Bill is a fairly typical Halfling in outward appearance. He's slightly stocky looking as
he's a little short for his height, but similar things could be said about most of his race
if judged by human standards. He doesn't care though, as he enjoys his food and drink too
much to cut back. One way in which he most definitely does not conform to his racial
stereotype is his character. Everyone thinks of Halflings as cheerful, content homebodies.
Bill, however, has a darker side to his personality, normally expressed via his caustic wit,
and anyone would struggle to justify calling him cheerful. He also suffers from a
restlessness that has left him searching for a direction to his life. That search has
meant that he has left his home and family behind in The Moot, while he travels to places
many Halflings have never even heard of, let alone visited. Who knows if he'll ever make it
back to write his memoirs.
Kaspar "Kaz" Oxlifter(Dwarf, Troll Slayer)
Never the most successful Trollslayer around. On one notable occasion when he got knocked
out fighting off an ambush, the other characters took pity on him and rearranged the bodies
of the attackers to make it look like he'd be of use in the fight.
Harbull Furfoot(Halfling, ex-Herbalist, ex-Pharmacist, ex-Physician, ex-Outlaw,
Assassin)
Harbull began his adventuring career playing second fiddle to Tanis in The Enemy Within. I played a second
character as none of the other characters in the group had any healing abilities, and I selected Harbull from the
campaign's pre-generated characters so he could patch everyone else up when they needed it.
He quickly developed his own personality though, and after a time stopped playing 'second fiddle' to Tanis. He also
developed a reputation for his dark humour and deeply cutting personal remarks. His (magically enhanced) ability to
shrug off blows that would fell many other characters, while wearing only his shirt and trousers, only adds to his
notoriety.
Tanthalus "Tanis" Lamont(Elf, ex-Gamekeeper, ex-Targeteer, Beastlord)
Most players can tell stories about a character of theirs that always seemed to be unlucky, and Tanis was mine.
When we started playing The Enemy Within he was my main character (see Harbull below). He eventually met his
fate at the hands of some Dark Elf assassins in Lustria.
Kith-kanan(Elf, ex-Bodyguard, ex-Mecenary, ex-Mercenary
Sergeant, ex-Mercenary Captain, Judicial Champion)
My third ever WFRP (and therefore RPG) character. Generated sometime between Easter and
Summer 1991. Played regularly, at least once a week, for 3 years in 'real time' and for 5
years in 'game time'. Many gaming groups have legendary player characters that are
remebered and oft mentioned long after they were last played, and Kith (as he is
affectionately known in our group) is one of those. Kith is an example of one of those
characters, who when they really need it, can pull off stunning feats, which most sane
characters, particularly the habitually unlucky ones like Tanis (below), wouldn't even
dream of attempting.
Physically powerful in his own right, when he dons his armour and picks up his sword and
shield, everyone knows that the forces of Evil and Chaos are about to be dealt a swift
kicking to the nether regions.
Kith was last seen in Averheim, on Backertag 16th Jahrdrung, by the characters in my
current group, making an example of Anders Haarig, in the judicial arena. Anders was the
champion of Walter Bucker, a corrupt official in the town, who had already killed the
town's two judicial champions in earlier fights. Of course, the characters didn't
recognise him, but the players did, and they joined the crowd in cheering him on.
